Profile...

Dorothy Chrisman is the author and developer of the nationally acclaimed adult exercise program, BODY RECALL. At a time when adult exercise was limited to a tiny segment of people, she designed a program that was inclusive and which has taken adult fitness to new heights. Thousands of adults across the nation have found her possible, pain-flee, risk-free, enjoyable approach to exercise to be the means through which they can pursue an independent lifestyle. Her publications and extensive travels to lead workshops and deliver addresses have brought attention to positive exercise options for adults and have brought recognition and honors to her as a national advocate and leader for lifetime fitness. She has created training programs for teachers seeking certification in BODY RECALL, and hundreds have developed classes in their own communities. She has written a text, BODY RECALL: A PROGRAM OF PHYSICAL FITNESS FOR THE ADULT, now in its 9th edition, which serves as a foundation for students of BODY RECALL. Through musically accompanied fitness pieces created by using exercises from her text, student focus shifted from monitoring heart rates, increasing repetitions and duration, and breaking a sweat, to increased range of motion (joint mobility), balance, coordination, strength and agility that could be incorporated into their every day lives.
