SPECIAL POPULATIONS TRAINING 

Persons who are not involved in an exercise program because of lack of information about POSSIBLE and SAFE ways to regain lost physical skills, or persons unable to participate in traditional exercise programs due to physical limitations and reluctance to enter a group experience of physical activity.

 Certified SPECIAL POPULATIONS teachers are providing scheduled classes in: 

  • Retirement homes

  • Nursing homes

  • Home Health

  • Day Care Centers

  • Senior Citizens Centers

  • Hospitals and extended care facilities

  • Nutrition Sites

  • Mental Health Units

  • Skilled nursing facilities

  • Convents

BODY RECALL is the first organization to offer training and certification in exercise and lifetime fitness to activities directors and teachers who work with SPECIAL POPULATIONS.  This is an educational program requiring the text, BODY RECALL: A Program of Physical fitness for the Adult by Dorothy C. Chrisman.

As with all successfully evolving programs of this type, improvements need to be made from time-to-time to better serve the interests of a changing population.

 SPECIAL POPULATIONS training has consisted of: 4 consecutive, full-day training sessions a week apart with emphasis on:

  • Laboratory observation.

  • Techniques of leading exercises in a motivating, pain-free, risk-free way.

  • Practice teaching of structured incentive materials.

  • Use of simple incentive program equipment.

  • Techniques of BODY RECALL exercises.

  • Philosophical and sociological aspects of SPECIAL POPULATIONS students' adaptability to BODY RECALL.

 Before registration:

  • Leader must have permission to teach BODY RECALL after achieving certification.

  • Must arrange to work with a SPECIAL POPULATIONS group for the duration of 4 consecutive weeks of training.

  • Must be allowed to offer BODY RECALL on a regular schedule of 3 times a week in class sessions of 45 minutes.

  • Must pay a fee of $400.00. (Text and certification fee included.)

Before certification:

  • Must attend every session of training.

  • Must secure a tape recorder and cassettes for recording purposes.

  • Must complete all expected assignments.

  • Must present a current CPR certificate.

  • All certifications are renewable on a yearly basis for a fee of $50.00

 Initial Procedure:

  • Email or phone BODY RECALL HEADQUARTERS (859-986-2181) for information on availability of TRAINERS and DATES for SPECIAL POPULATIONS Certification.

  • Request application forms for SPECIAL POPULATIONS TRAINING in the course of the correspondence.

  SPECIAL POPULATIONS TRAINING has been offered when at least six (6) teachers were enrolled for a specific series of dates when a certified TRAINER of BODY RECALL SPECIAL POPULATIONS is available to work with a group when there was a location to hold the training sessions in a community desiring the training, and when an appropriate laboratory group was available to provide observation for trainees during the training sessions.
